Rejjie Snow – Pink Beetle
I don’t know what’s more gripping, the atmospheric piano that opens this track, or the Rejjie Snow rendition of The Lord’s Prayer that echos around as the intro draws to a close. Fuck.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come, you will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
This is not a song introduction that one simply skips.
When the track kicks in, the prominent hook line that you will get used to escalates Pink Beetle from a gangster choir tour, to something a bit more good and ready. This is some real Hip-Hop shit. The rapping that Rejjie Snow brings to the equation once the audio orgasm is over just takes you in for a second ejaculation without any time to clean up in between.
It’s worth mentioning that despite covering Gold Teeth, Mercedes, and ‘Bitches’, this isn’t just some weapon Straight Outta Compton. Rejjie Snow is actually from Dublin, Ireland. I actually have more respect for him based on that fact alone. Of course, it doesn’t matter where you come from, but Pink Beetle sounds as if it has been produced at Dr. Dre’s studio in the Hollywood Hills. It’s flawless, and bloody beautiful. You can be sure that we will be watching Rejjie Snow and his future movements very closely, don’t worry about that…
Check out the track below, and prep a pack of tissues whilst you’re at it. You’ll be streaming, which will probably compensate for how cool you should be feeling when this song draws to a close.
